Introduction: Scary Pennywise
A short description of the project
For this project we have implemented our knowledge about programming and circuit making that we have learned in the subject “Academic uses and specific terminology in English”. The goal of the project was to design a prototype related to Halloween. After thinking about different topics we got inspiration from the ”IT” film to design a scary project.
This project has 3 main functions:
1-The leds in the eyes will change colours when you get closer.
2-The clown will talk and scare you when you are close to him.
3-A hand will come out of the structure when you are near it.
List of electronic components:
1 Arduino Uno - microcontroller board based on the ATmega328.
1 Breadboard - platform you can use to build and test electronic circuits.
2 RGB LEDs (Analog) - red, blue and green LEDs.
1 Servo - rotary / linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular / linear position, velocity and acceleration.
1 Ultrasonic sensor - electronic device that measures the distance of an object by emitting ultrasonic sound waves, and converts the reflected sound into an electrical signal.
6 220 Ohms resistors - passive two-terminal electrical component that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element.
Jumpers - an electrical wire, or group of them in a cable, with a connector or pin at each end.
1 Speaker - transducers that convert electromagnetic waves into sound waves.
1 DFPlayer mini - small and low-cost MP3 module player with a simplified output directly to the speaker.
1 microSD - is electrically and software compatible with the full-size SD card.

As for the Arduino, we decided the actions we wanted it to do (explained above) and got down to work. We assembled the circuit with LEDs, ultrasonic sensor, a DFPlayer mini, a speaker and a servo motor.
We made a drawing in AutoCad with the measurements and the desired shape of the prototype. Next we bought 5 DinA 3 (2.5 mm thick) DM planks and laser cut them. We painted and assembled them to be able to test the protoype with the electronics. The last step was to put together the components of the prototype with the arduino. The servo moved the arm, the LEDs lit up Pennywise's eyes and the speaker emitted terrifying clown sounds .
Step 6: A Short Conclusion
We really liked doing this project, since we were able to apply all the knowledge learned in class in a practical and fun way. We enjoyed being able to choose the theme of the project, the materials and all the different functions that the prototype was supposed to do.
We found some problems with the servo motor and speaker, but it helped us to learn more about this components.
In general, the whole group has found it an enjoyable project with which we have learned a lot.
