Let´s Go to Chile

Introduction: Let´s Go to Chile

This insructable is about creating a interactive map of Chile that first graders can play and learn about Chile.

We will be using the Makey Makey to conect the interacive map with a computer running a Scratch program.

- Makey Makey

- Cardboard

- Printed map

- Several pictures

- 5 small screws

- 1 metallic ruler

- Hot Glue gun

- A piece of cloth

Step 1: Make the Map

First of all, cover the front of the cardboard with the cloth.

Then use the hot glue gun to paste the map and the pictures to the front of the cardboard.

Step 2: Connect the Map to the Makey Makey

Put a screw next to each of the answers to the questions.

Then, from behind of the cardboard, use the alligator clips to connect the screws to the Makey Makey.

The ground is connected to a metallic ruler which will be used for pointing the correct answers.

Step 3: Code Using Scratch

A simple coding in Scratch links question to one one correct answer shown in the map.

You can find the code here:

Step 4: Enjoy the Game!

Enjoy the game! Hope you like it!

This is really cool! Thank you so much for sharing. Do you have any strategies for teaching the first grades the coding part? I had difficulties even when using scratch.

Hi there, thanks for your interest. As a reference, have included now in Step 3 the link to the Scratch code for this project. Regarding any strategy, I have been using Scratch's tutorials and coding cards available in the Scratch website. With 1st graders, it has to be step by step and trying to make it always a game and have fun.
